I came home from work, to a very sick bird on Monday.
Lolly was lying on the bottom of her cage & even when I picked her up, her eyes were half closed, & she didn't want to move at all. Her legs seemed like they were jelly & looked like she was on her death bed. She still seemed to want to eat, but didn't have the strength to crack a sunflower seed!
My heart sank & frantically called a few vets.
Well now, a few days later, I'm happy to report that Lolly is almost back to her normal self. However, I'm still really puzzled at what happened & trying to understand more so I can prevent it in the future.
Before I went to work on Monday, she seemed absolutely fine. Droppings looked normal, no watery eyes, no nasal discharge, no ruffled feathers, steady on her perch, etc.
8 hrs later, she looked ready to go to birdy heaven!
Now 5 days later, Lolly seems like almost back to her normal self, behavior-wise.
However, what's still troubling me are the droppings. Some hours, they look fine, other hours, it is still very watery. (Actually, it only started to become watery after the trip to the vet...)
Would anyone have any opinions whether I should take her to the vet again? or just wait it out?
Anyone else experienced such a drastic downturn with their bird's health?
