Yoshi Blue cookware question

Postby Shelby » Sat Jul 28, 2012 11:20 pm

Keep in mind we don't have a bird right now, so no feathered friends were harmed in the making of this post. ;)

My dad just bought a new non-stick pan and I believe the company is "Yoshi Blue" or something similar. The package it came in said it wasn't made with any teflon; it's non-stick because of a ceramic outer layer that is inlaid with tiny diamond chips. (And no, it wasn't as expensive as you might think!)

Anybody heard of this brand and whether or not it releases fumes toxic for birds/people? It's nice for those times when we don't want to dig out the huge heavy cast iron pans...

I don't see anything to indicate that toxic chemicals are not a part of the pan.

I found this manufacturer that seems safe. PTFE and PFOA free non-stick (silicone) coated.

You can try e-mailing the manufacturer and asking but be aware they may just say we don't reccommend it around pets regardless of whether it actually is safe or not.
