Freezing sprouts

Postby marie83 » Thu Aug 30, 2012 12:33 pm

Is it ok to freeze a seed, bean, lentil and brown rice mix after it has been soaked and the seeds/beans sprouted or does this defeat the object? I know cooking things destroys the natural enzymes so I assume freezing will do the same even though the vitamins should be preserved?

I'm at the end of the bag so I have a big container with hardly anything in it. I want to put the new bag in the container so I just thought it would be easiest to sprout it all off in one go since theres only 4/5 tablespoons left.

Thanks :)

Well I think its only heat that really destroys all the enzymes.
If frozen properly I'd say they might not be 100% as nutritious as they were alive n fresh but they'd still be pretty good.

I just dunno how good they'd look once they were thawed out again...sorta like freezing lettuce I think it'd make them look pretty gross and they'd probably spoil quicker.

Ok cheers, I kinda was thinking along those lines. I've found a small container now which it fits in perfectly so I'll leave it dry until needed.
