I have heard of some people giving the plastic bottle caps as toys (not really treats... seeing as they don't eat it) but I wouldn't give a metal bottle cap for a variety of safety reasons.

Be sure to clean it really well.

Yes, don't give metal ones. Are the bottle caps off booze or cola bottles? Caffeine and alcohol is deadly for birds. As Eury says, make sure they're clean.

My :senegal: will purposely seek out bottle caps and throw them across the room. Have no idea why but it is his "thing" and harmless. I just have to go and retrieve later so that nobody steps on them.

Plastic bottle caps from drinks/milk cartons are fine. I wouldn't use them from anything else though. Just give them a good wash first.

we have loads of them, I spread them all over the place and hide treats under the odd one or two. Ollie runs round trying to turn them all over so he can find out which ones had treats. I started doing it to see if he would check under each one in order but no he gets so excited he runs round randomly throwing them all over the place. Once he calms down he will then look to see if he has missed any.
