CML this is what HARLOW has, its commenly passed through feces. We think Harlow got it from the breeder before I got her[because none of my other birds are sick.]It can harbor in their body a long time before its seen. What happens it eventually hurts their liver.Low red blood cell count ,weight loss ,puffed appearence change in behavior. Why are they not treating for it? Its contagous, your other bird will get it .As a precation my other 8 are getting Doxycycline in their water for 14 .Remember the medicine has to be strong enough Baytril wont touch it.Let us know what he says.

Thanks for your concern terri :) , im also worried sick but i trust our vet. He phoned me again, and explained that a second test is necessary, and if that shows the same values we need to start treating. Hes got 30years of experience with avian medicine, so i think he will do whats best for our birds. He really cares about his patients, both the bird and the owner. If it shows anything, we will do evrything to get it treated!

Hows harlow doing?

I would just ask why they cant do Doxycyclin for 14 days as a precaution[they are doing it for my birds it wont hurt them.Harlows symptoms mirrored this disease.they ran 3 tests all they could find were cells in the one[but look how sick she eventually got].It was awful like watching a child die. :( Shes been sick I think since early spring.I didnt see it till july to start treating for it[and they were using the wrong stuff]Now shes on day 18 of the new stuff and its working [we see the vet today] Good Luck to you [Do what YOU feel is best]

I get what you are saying and it makes sense Terri. I will ask him when we visit for the second blood test, and if it turns out it needs to be treated, I will insist that we treat Stitch as well - to be completely safe :) ! I couldnt bear the thought of something happening to my parrots, I love them both dearly.
