Beak Appetit - Cheese Teaser?

Postby Elizebird » Thu Oct 11, 2012 8:51 pm

So my town had a rummage sale recently, and there was a pet section of sale. After getting some other things, I found myself gravitating towards the pet section and browsing, just in case, for bird items. A lot of things were horrible old cages, used toys, and just generally gross things that you wouldn't want to actually buy for your bird...

HOWEVER, in the corner, there was a small bucket of "Beak Appétit - Cheese Teaser". It was the cleanest thing, and as I read the back, it was a microwavable soak and feed. The original price read $7 (for the very small container), but the person running the pet section had no idea what it was and simply put it for $1.50. I checked over the container many times, and it seems well sealed, it still has the plastic on the top. I figured $1.50 was worth spending if I ended up being able to use it, and bought it.

Now the real question, can I even feed this to my birds? There is no expiration date on the bucket. However, when I typed in the website it suggested for customer service, it came up as some chinese blog or something. (beakappetit.com)

Has anyone heard of this brand? Your opinions?

I might open and cook it anyways to see what's it like. ;) But do you think I could feed this to my birds?

No idea, what is on the ingredients list? If you can't read it cuz its foreign then put it into google translate or another translation service.

My vet said don't feed anything from China. You would not believe how hard it is to find dog treats made elsewhere. Finally we found a store named "Tractor Supply". They have American made pet stuff. Before this I was buying the ones made in Sweden and Mexico. As if our country can't make them.

Liz and Marie, it's made in the USA. I'll post the ingredients list in a sec, too.
(also, Liz, I love tractor supply! since we also have farm animals it's a regular shopping spot for us.)

I activated my librarian senses (which has been inactive the last five months) and searched this a bit. Beat Appetit is marketed as nutritious, pre-made meals for parrots that is also easy to serve. Beak Appetit had several different flavors to choose from. From what I read, it is no longer in business and shut down years ago. A lot of bird owners are apparently sad about it. Too bad I didn't get a chance to try it for Tik.
