Concern about nares

Postby GreenWing » Thu Oct 25, 2012 12:36 am

So this evening, I noticed a little bit of crusting around Tiki's right nare. Her droppings look okay as far as I can tell.

Do I need to take her to the vet or should I keep a close eye on her? Her behavior is active and normal...

It may be nothing but it is always best to check if there is any doubt whatsoever as to what caused something.

I always err on the side of caution.
Call up the vet and see what they think---I'd rather spend the money for nothing then let a health problem go untreated/undetected.

Especially considering birds don't last long when sick and when it finally does show that they're really sick its often advanced and hard to treat.

Thank you to you both. She is doing okay, nothing on nares and nothing out of the ordinary. She is due for her check up, though, so I'll be taking her to the vet anyway.

It is scary, though, that illnesses can hit our birds the way they do.
