Harlie- a bit of progress

Postby marie83 » Thu Oct 25, 2012 12:56 pm

Finally finally after 5 long years of trying everything to get her to eat some fresh foods and finally falling into a 3 day cycle for the past year of a bit of a food restriction and additional food on the 3rd day to keep her at a good weight she has finally eaten some fresh foods, only a bit of curly kale and some baby corn but hopefully this will encourage her that anything other than dry seed and pellets wont poison her.

WOOOOHOOOOO, just shows that perseverance can pay off, even with a 6 year old bird :)

Thats great =)! All progress is great progress!
Leroy is usually a bit hesitant towards new veggies, but if he sees Stitch eating them, he'll usually go for them as well, eventually anyway.

Harlie has been the stubbornest animal I have ever met regarding trying new foods, she was fed all seed diet before we got her, I've tried every trick in the book over the years repeatedly, including eating in front of her, making toys out of the foods, cooking it in various ways, cutting it stupidly small, restricting her food, even just feeding her one meal apart from the new food, she would sooner starve :(
This was all to the point where she wouldn't even eat soaked seeds, even if they were only slightly damp. I have no idea whats caused her to change her mind on this particular day but hopefully its the start of something good.
