Cookware Safety

I'm looking to replace my Teflon cookware for my Conures safety. I was told NeoFlam was bird safe. That is a ceramic cooking surface. Are all ceramic cookware safe. Are there any other types of non-stick cookware that are safe? Are there specific elements that I need to be looking for in the cookware I purchase. Anybody with any knowledge about this topic, I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks

Alot on here recommend cast iron, its expensive to buy but will last a lifetime if taken care of properly.
I currently have stainless steel- not too bad but a pain in the neck to clean.
I'm not sure about ceramic tbh, I dont see why it would be a problem but I think if there is doubt your probably best off not risking it.

Hi Whaleman76, you're asking some great questions. Before I took Tiki home, I got rid of all my non-stick cooking equipment. I'm leery of a lot of questionable cookware, and to play it safe I deal with cast iron, stainless steel, and glass.

As Marie mentions, the iron skillet is great because anything cooked in it will have the boost of iron, and this is also good for our birds, too.

Glass bakeware is great. It's 100 percent safe for birds and is relatively inexpensive.

I also use stainless steel pots and saucepans, as well.

If you're worried about cost or just want to save some money, go to a thrift store... you wouldn't believe the nice stuff I've found at thrift stores. I probably paid a quarter for a good stainless steel pot.

I wouldnt trade my cast iron pan for anything else, its completely altered the quality of food you get when frying stuff. Cast iron is great, it gives great results when cooking, is easy to clean and if cared for properly, will last at least your lifetime. The only downside is that its heavy, and its not just a little heavy, but VERY heavy. My wife doesnt like the pan because of this, she loves it for cooking, but hates moving it about. Im thinking about buying a medium sized pan for her, atm we only have a very large, and a small one.
