hmmmmm...... I was wondering what makes you think he gets bored easily with food, toys, activities, as opposed to some other feeling. in other words, are you sure that boredom is the problem, or is it possibly another emotion? the fact that he's like this in all areas in his life might give you a clue as to how to move forward.

since he's not overtly demonstrating fear, that rules out fear, I think...

however, other possible emotions that might make a bird stop doing something could be:
-feeling overwhelmed
-tired
-relaxed (wants to just chill out instead)
-uncertainty
-novelty (they havent had a chance to get used to doing something)

just a guess

Hi,

Yeah I understand what you mean. We were told this by our avian vet when we showed her a video of how he behaves with things and described his behaviour. She confirmed he is as healthy as can be and took some blood anyway (this was 2 months ago) and she said there was nothing worrying or deficient. She is also a behaviourist (I think thats the right word!) and she said he's a bit like a toddler and gets bored with things very easily and wants to try new things or different things. She suggested changing things regularly to keep him stimulated because he's a bit hyperactive. I suggested to her maybe cutting down sugar or something and she said just to continue what we were doing and try different pellets to see which ones he sticks too. As I said to Marie we've now narrowed it down to two and hopefully he will choose from these two so we can get it down to one.

He is now eating more fruit blend pellets than harrisons so he is leaning more towards those. These pellets were given to us by the vet so I'm sure they are not terrible. He is due another health check soon as she wanted to see him after at 9 months and then again at 12 months then we will move to 4-6 month regular appointments. I will ask her again and suggest what you all have said about it :-)

Just to reassure everyone he does get played with all the time out of the cage- he wants to do EVERYTHING all at THE SAME TIME! He's such a playful little thing so I just want to make sure he stays so active and healthy by giving the absolute best diet I can.
