Is it safe to give my macaw water melon I know we cannot eat the skin so can biggles eat the skin and what about the pips

I give my Quaker watermelon and he loves it. But I always leave out the pips in case they're toxic or something. Just to be safe, I would leave out the pips for your macaw too.

Its ages ago I last fed Stitch watermelon, like a year and a half! Thanks for reminding me :), both parrots will get some soon (but only very little, since they are full of water and I dont want to mess up their little tummies ^^)

i did a quick internet search and found that edible watermelon seeds contain a high amount of unsaturated linoleic acid which could in fact be a nutritious source of the fatty acid used to reduce cholesterol, at least in humans.

so i would say that the white seeds are better than the black, i think. maybe. i hope i helped a little.

I would not recommend feeding water melon seeds to any bird. Watermelon also has a lot of sugar in it, so it's probably best to not feed the bird(s) too much, if any.
