I've heard that female parrots can have a implant to control there hormones so if a male has hormone problem can he has the implant or not???????

However, I would suggest looking at the other articles surrounding this. It seems to be that it's not a guaranteed thing that it will work and changes in diet, routine and behaviour should be discussed with your avian vet before you decide to do something that drastic. At least according to what the articles say.

If it was me I would go to an avian vet or perhaps an animal/avian behaviourist to explore ways of 'naturally' controlling hormones and linked behaviour before intervening medically. I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum that would be able to help you with tips

I have a meeting with the avain vet on monday it was just something I had read about I will see what they say on Monday

Personally I wouldn't even consider it for any animal unless the animals health was at risk and natural methods such as food, light, water management and temperature methods had all failed alongside managing the length of physical contact with the bird (not too much or too long) and choosing toys/substrate which cannot be seen as nesting material.

It was suggested at one point that we tried it on Ollie but no way will I allow that, I really don't think his problems are hormonal or behavioural and even it is proven to be hormonal I would need alot of persuading and research to convince me it was the right thing to do.

Yes marie I ain't very happy with it but ive removed all nesting the biggles could use ive removed all the toys he was humping and put new ones in which he started humping which has got worse he only used to do it on a morning now it's all day he's sleeping 13 to 14 hrs aday I cut down on his food and only feed him at set time his feathers are rough he is bitting them in half there are bare shafts were biggles has pulled all the flights of his stool are very loose even looks like water with about 10% normal looking tomorrow we are at the avain vet marie kubiak my partner Jackie was reading about giardia but I don't know i will keep updating to let you know how we get on

While you're there get them to check for PBFD- just a recommendation

Well been to the vets and it's not good news biggles has got Chlamydophila which is been treated with medication had him xrayed as well cause for his breathing is it right and he's got a shadow in the reproduction track not sure if it's a egg or ovaries swollen or fungal infection on his lung so had to have ablood test done to find out about his hormones I told them what I've tried which is everything so I went with the inplant so I've got to wait for the results from the blood test and if the implant works which if it's the ovaries swollen the implant could reduce it its cost me a fortune today and I'm more worried than before I just my baby to happy in life and health will let you all know the results of the blood test when I do
