There's a blue and gold macaw named Biggles on the forum, currently experiencing illness, (owned by forum member "roy" ) whose tail feathers turned an off color right around the time he got sick. if you enter "Biggles" into the search box you can read about him.

i have already read about biggles..but jazz's feathers were not exactly off colour..!! just that the tails edges were grey, n not red, since he came to me around a month ago..!! at that time, i thought its normal, or maybe he is young, or maybe some gender variation...n never thought it could be some disease...it came to my mind afterwards....so i posted it here, thinking some grey owners could provide some info...

I haven't been to the forum in several days and I just now saw the news about Jazz. I am so very sorry for your loss. :-( You did everything that you could; you recognized that something was wrong and you took Jazz to the vet as soon as you could. I hope that you are able to find out more information once the test results are back.

Jazz had a short life but while he was with you he got lots of attention and got to eat fruits and vegetables, which are things he never would have had the chance to try without you. I'm terribly sorry about the way things turned out in the end but he had a good life while he was with you.

I have lost birds in the past and I know how painful it is and how much you miss them. :-(

I am so very sad about Jazz. I was so excited for you two because you were spending so much time doing research and learning about how to raise him properly; you were very dedicated to giving him the best and he would have had a great life with you! It's such a shame that it was cut so short but you did everything you possibly could for him.
