Kalinka if you are in the USA I shop at http://www.mysafebirdstore.com/ you can buy in bulk and save.

I buy this for my brids along with tops;

http://www.mysafebirdstore.com/product. ... duct=16360

TOPS & Goldenfeast are not that expensive and IMHO are better and healthier;

Roudybush isn't that great Ground Corn, Ground Wheat, Soy Meal, (some with peanut meal) is what's in most of them and these are not ingredients to feed a bird...

Zupreem is junk...

Actually chemicals and artifical things and colors in foods are dangerous research has already proven this, it's why so many Americans die of some many diseases.

Organic is nothing fancy, it's just natural and the normal way to do things, not Health Food Store special like most people think.

Start eating everything all organic and natural and see how you feel in 6 months I bet you will feel a difference in your life and stay away from all the Chemicals & Drugs Doctors want you to take as a person, heal yourself naturally. You don't need drugs unless you're, it's all crap!

Scotty I get what your saying about the chemicals etc, unfortunately most people cannot afford to eat organic themselves so will think twice about feeding organic stuff to their pet . Personally i feed organic pellets but struggle to afford anything else which is organic, I try harder with berry type stuff though which is said to take on more pesticides and stuff than other F&V. I could say it defeats the object of feeding organic pellets when I dont feed 100% organic stuff and I would actually agree with that to a point but a little is better than alot.
Another thing is organic stuff is actually less organic than what you would think it would be, this planets getting too polluted and there mounting evidence that organic crops are cross pollinating with GM crop pollens. Its quite sad really that we are running out of being able to choose, I think one day their wont be a choice.

Look back up, I re-edited my post...

Where ever you are look for a place to buy in bulk, that's what I do and I save and it's as cheap as anything else...

Well I only have two small birds a GCC and a Mynah so for me $6-$7 a pound to buy in bulk I think is pretty cheap for quality food...

I know for a fact if you want to live longer and healthier with less problems then you have to eat properly and that means staying away from chemicals and anything artifical in food, same for your bird...

Pay now or Pay later and paying later in the end with doctors bills and problems is a bigger pain, just remember that and look at it that way, trust me I know, this is a fact!

As yes some people will be able to eat crap all their life and live just as long as the rest of us, but don't use that as an excuse because that doesn't work for everyone!

Oh and if you don't believe any of this, then next time your out and about, LOOK around at people and how unhealthy most of them look and feel. You hardly see healthy looking people in America, without always sucking down sodas and coffee to keep them going, and so many of them pale and overweight!

And a fact, Europeans are healthier, less fat and live longer, why because of DIET and lifestyle!

I have been very happy with Roudybush. I switched my last bird from zupreem at midlife and found an improvement in healthy appearance.

My breeder uses Zupreem but was great when I asked her to wean to my food of choice. She said she would feed Roudybush to all of her birds if it weren't for the higher cost and relative scarcity of the brand. That's the one thing that bugs me about Roudybush...many stores don't carry it, or only carry one or two pellet sizes. If you're going to feed Roudybush, make sure there are at least a couple of local places that carry it.

I was recommended to use zupreem and have been mixing it with seed (with fruits and greens being involved as well.) Is there something better or "healther"? Any other brands that are better for our flighted friends?

Also, does anyone still use the yellow water vita drops? I'v been using it the entire time, and was curious if it was the best method of insuring my birds get the vitamins they need?
Thanks for the info! :D

Have you ever been to America? Doesn't sound like you have a clue what you are talking about!

That is my opinion on the pellet subject.

DON'T DO THAT!!!!!! Unless a vet specifically said your bird is malnourished and that you must supplement its diet, what you are doing could actually harm/kill your bird!!! A pellet diet is already balanced and safe. Supplementing the water with vitamins makes the water spoil quicker and potentially become toxic. But worse yet it can also overdose your parrot on vitamins and cause kidney failure.

Wow, bashing someone else to make yourself feel better. That has no place in a post regarding food for parrots. I suggest you learn something about the USA before you start spewing what the media says without research or understanding of the actual problems the people in the USA face.

I personally love Harrison's. Nika looks fabulous and it keeps her active. It's more money than I'd like to spend but the large bag does last a while.
