Often Zupreem is recommended as a good transition pellet: if your bird eats only seeds and you wanna teach him to eat pellets, you mix the pellets in with the seeds at gradually bigger proportions and usually Zupreem is the easiest one for them to accept and like (its sweet, colorful, etc.).

But indeed, Zupreem is not healthy at all.
As soon as your bird eats the pellets, I would start introducing to him a second (more boring, brown) healthier pellet, in the same way mixing it in the Zupreem gradually until he accepts it completely and you can safely know that he can keep his healthy weight by eating only the healthy kind of pellet. Then you discard the Zupreem from his diet forever. ;)

Thank you! After doing some research, which pretty much confirmed what you just said, I'll be transitioning her out of Zupreem as soon as she will allow me lol. What pellet food is MOST recommended by our forum? I read up on Roudybush and am willing to try it, but am always wanting to hear any possible alternatives available. (I like being open minded :D)

I would favour Harrisons or TOPS but as you can see there is plenty of debate about whether its worth it. I would prefer my birds to eat TOPS over the harrisons but they don't agree and I find its too crumbly so theres alot of waste.

I use niether.

Ive been using Nutribird, but a while ago I switched over to Hagen Tropican, and they are in my opinion very good. Nutrition-wise they are good, and they are good sized, and the parrots love them. I actually got the idea from Grey_moon in her thread about pellets, Im gonna see if I can dig out that link (I am sure I posted it somewhere quite recently).

Overall, thats a great thread, I reccommend that you read it!

I haz an announcement to make! Today I am officially switching to Roudybush.

I have been feeding Tiki what she was fed after being weaned, a seed/pellet/dried fruit and veg mix from a local company. This blend was recommended by the avian vet in addition, so I thought it was awesome, but then I found a peanut with BLACK spots on it and my attitude changed to %^$# this!

I am off to buy Roudybush and am switching my bird ASAP. I am NOT risking the feathered love of my life with aspergillus.

Oh and if you don't believe any of this, then next time your out and about, LOOK around at people and how unhealthy most of them look and feel. You hardly see healthy looking people in America, without always sucking down sodas and coffee to keep them going, and so many of them pale and overweight!

And a fact, Europeans are healthier, less fat and live longer, why because of DIET and lifestyle!

CHEERS

It seems that parrot owners are much like parrots, we're ready to bite if you rub us the wrong way, heh. Off topic but I actually I agree with you that many Americans (generally speaking) have terrible diets. There's "Fast Food Nation" for the curious. Europeans technically do eat better in general as they eat fresher foods; I've been to the UK and France so I would know. I think vegetarianism is the best way to go, but that's my bias. That said I don't mind being pale, I live in freakin' Portland, lol

I feed Harrison's, Totally Organics and Goldenobles.
Ive tried Roudybush and nobody likes it or eats it at all here.
Im presently trying Lafebers, but its not very successful either.... the organics are REALLY their preferred food.

I use Hagens High Performance from time to time when I can go pick it up in person directly from HARI. It is a very good pellet as well!!! Gotta absolutely feed it as fresh as possible, just like the organic ones, as it goes rancid rather quickly. ;) Half my birds love it, half will eat it but its not their favorite...
