Trying to get my lovebird to eat anything but seeds

Postby hlasdf » Sat Feb 09, 2013 1:44 am

Hey all! :swaying: I've been trying to get my lovebird, Daisy, to eat anything but seeds, which is the only thing the bird farm weaned her to. She's tried pellets, but only eats it, albeit rarely, when I offer it to her by hand. I've offered her fruits and vegetables as well, but she runs away. Eating them in front of her doesn't change anything either. If I don't give her seeds or millet, she jumps off the table with her clipped wings(she already usually does this anyways and I'm trying to get her to stop but can't) and forages on the ground or in the trashcan for anything that looks slightly edible. I also tried sprinkling some millet on a fruit so she could get a taste of the fruit while eating millet, but she didn't care for it and simply picked off the millet or ran away from it all together. Anyone know how to go about this and get her to eat better? How did you do it with your bird(s)?
Thanks!
