I have two lovely alexandrine parakeets. They are quite healthy. Despite that, I'm afraid about their diet. What should I feed them???? Please help me!!!

;) ;)
hello
firstly what type of parakeets do you have do you give them vegtables ? parakeets like brocolli and carrots and you can also give buggies hard bioled egg for potien they also enjoy apple and kayle.

you could try learning to sprout seeds so that you can increase the vitaman lecevels in the seed and make them less fatty. Although sprouted seads go bad quickly, they are nervertheless highly nutrittious for your bird. but you should use caution when sprouting.
There are other feeds on this forum about sprouting i recomend you read those if you deside to spout seads or beans for your birds.

seed must be fresh inorder to sprout it. If it will not sprout and the seed was soaked in warm water over night and if does not sprout it may be old and have lost its nutritional value. Seed can be stored in the freezer to keep it fresh for sprouting.

the pellet seed debate is ongoing but you can get advice on that here too. ;)

and you will need to be careful to rince the seeds with a citrasidal , like apple cider vinegar, or G.S.E Regularly to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold .G.S.E IS GRAPE SEED EXTRACT I USE it for cleaning my birds vegtables to remove pesticides and also to clean her cage you should use it very dilute as its very strong stuff

do you alexandrian parakeets eat everthing you give them you could try feeding an organic pellet as a base diet to prevent them selectively feeding on specific foods which they might prefer to healther food

A good pellet as a base diet, the most favoured brands on here are TOPS, roudybush and harrisons, there are other brands available which you can use but I think the general thought on here are to steer well away from the coloured ones.

My two then usually get 2 different types of veg a day and 1 piece of fruit but this does vary a bit
or sprouted seeds. I tend to only feed the sprouted seeds 2-4 times a week, 4 times when they are moulting, 2 times the rest of the time.

They get seeds as a treat for training rewards.
Harlie gets some seed as part of her main diet as it is thought just pellets aren't as suited to cockatiels as other species.
Occasionally they will also get tiny amounts of plain wholemeal toast, brown rice, wholemeal pasta or boiled egg.

As long as pellets are the main diet and not seed you should do ok :)
