Poice Cage

What I want to know, is what cage do you keep your poicephalus in? Please include the species you have. I am mostly intrested in the smaller ones(Red-bellied, Meyers, etc.),but any info will help. Thanks

p.s. A link on where you bought it or a place to buy it/ see a picture of it would also be helpful.

I have 5 of the smaller Pois and they all have this cage (well Shade has one of the same dimensions but different manufacturer).

Eventually I might get something bigger for them, but for now it's plenty. They actually do use all the vertical space, since I do put some foraging activities closer to the bottom.

I got mine either a) with the bird (Joey) or b) used. I could buy them new in local pet stores if I wanted to though. Haven't seem them for sale online yet.

I got my bird the basic Hagen Model, I had to cut a little bit somewhere, all theses expenses were adding up (I paid too much for my Brown head, got it from a pet store, but wanted this specific one, because he was so nice). Paid about 145$ CAN for the whole thing, including a bit of food.

But, this is temporary, I will get a nice one in a few months, most probably the same one Natacha has. The one I have now will probably become a sleeping cage or other. It's always handy to have an extra one.

Hey there. I have the same basic cage as Natacha, just a tad bigger. My female red belly uses just about every square inch of it. I was lucky enough to find it used without rust and good powder coating. Of course I had to clean the heck out of it before I let Kerm go near it.

My Senegal has a Montana Finka II dome cage. Its 26x24x45 inches. Kika uses the whole cage top to bottom, but prefers the top half (from the food-dishes up). I love Montana. Brilliant cages!
I prefer the dome top to the playtop. If I take Kika out he will be sitting on his tree or playstand or sitting with us. It adds a lot of important cageroom, his sleepingarea .

Of the three Ilike the last one the best, andthe middle one the least.

The last two won't have any food doors or dishes included. That will become a huge pain in the ass for you. I'd really get a cage that has food doors and a seed skirt to help with the mess. Having worked at a pet store I can tell you that some of the cages on the market are just crap. Honestly, for quality and cost effectiveness, I'd go with Avian Adventures, A & E, Prevue or a Superpet EZ care cage. Of those, the EZ Care and the Avian Adventures are my favorite.

Most of those come in dome or playtop styles. A&E has a nice variety of styles if you look at their website.
