Show us your bird room!

Here is mine:

It's a work in progress and will be much better once I move and they have a bigger room :) The cockatoos are in the living room because otherwise they scream all day. My eclectus will also be in the living room soon once my triple stacker is up and running. My Vosmaeri pair will be in the bird room after quarantine :)

very nice room, but, i must ask, why is there a cat in there, especially since there is a bird out? dont mean to judge, just want to say that no matter how "tame" or "sweet" a cat is, it doesn't take a cat much to kill a bird, a little bit of saliva will do it.

all the best.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

i have to disagree. saliva is toxic but cats and birds have always been fine together in my house. i've had a couple cats with my birds they tend to keep their faces away from beaks.

i guess that is true in some cases, but it depends on the cat and the bird and other outer elements like on of them getting spooked and such.

OH wow! That room looks like a heaven for the birds!

I would say away from posting pictures of your bird that have your cat(s) in them, though. Anyone on these forums who has both a cat and a bird get seriously ridiculed, especially if they let them react at all. Not everyone is as nice as pionus was!

Seriously this is not the case at all. I haven't seen anyone ridicule you or tell you that you shouldn't have a cat but the fact is cats are preditory animals and there are alot of risks involved. Every single person thats ever lost a pet to another pet probably all said at some point "oh not our cat/dog/snake, he wouldn't hurt a fly"

I have been ridiculed, but you are right that no one has told me that I shouldn't have a cat or a parrot. I didn't mean this as an insult to the people on the forums, but a warning to conE that displaying how she allows her parrots and cat(s) to interact will more than likely result in negative reactions. You, Pionus, and a few other were very kind when expressing their concern to me regarding my choices and I thank you for that, but others have not been.

All of that aside, that is not what this thread is about. I'm interested in seeing the bird rooms of others, as I am considering having my own soon!

REALLY?!?!?

Postby ConEkatoolet » Sat Mar 09, 2013 4:41 pm

Oh good fricking lord, really?? Over my cat? You really think I would leave my cats alone in a room with my birds? Good God people, RELAX. Also, it just so happens my cats are scared of my birds and run the other way if they move. Also, all of my birds are fully flighted for this reason. My cats have been raised around prey animals and supervision is second nature at this point. My cats have never even come close to hurting my birds, it's usually the opposite, in fact, lol.

Take a chill pill, please. This topic is SO over argued and SO rookie! It simply comes down to know your cats, know your birds, and supervision. The end.

On topic, here's my current bed/birdroom! I'm moving the bird room very soon, it's going to be a lot bigger and look so much prettier haha.
The current room is pretty charming. ...Or, in other words, kind of ugly.
Can't wait, I want non-yellow walls! Now!

The cage is Miley's sleeping cage, so it's pretty small and looks awfully boring - but it's for sleeping only!
And yes indeed, I did make the tree by sticking branches through a big cardboard tube. It's not pretty but it's very functional. I'm so creative.
