Set-up (cage and birdroom) photos!

Postby mrbowlerhat » Sat Jun 22, 2013 8:41 pm

Hey, I just wanted to share some parrot setup shots because I just went through a bunch of photos and came across alot like that and... Yeah, I wanted to share them with you!

This is the "main cage" atm and these photos are new, just a few days old. This is where they sleep and eat every other day (they take turns, when Alaska's sleeping in the bird room, Miley's in the main cage and vice versa.)
It's not quite as big as I would like it to be, and atm it's also a bit empty, but then again they only do spend a few hours every other day in there, and they've got all of my combined bed-and-birdroom otherwise, so it'll be just fine until I can afford a new cage
They usually aren't ever in there at the same time, but they did share the cage when my family was away for a few hours the other day and I didn't want them to be alone without eachother, so I tried caging them together while watching them the day before, and oh man, that went amazing, so they got to sleep together and I wasn't afraid to leave them alone for a while at all the next day, and then when I came home I took a lot of photos because they were so cute.

Here's the birdroom, which also contains a bed and a computer for me, but other than that is completely theirs

Almost all photos are from different occasions, and the room never looks the same for too long, so yeah haha, you'll probably spot a lot of the same toys in different locations if you look closely.

Right now I change the green leafy branches every other day or so, so that they're always fresh, which is awesome because we've got this huuuge, totally overgrown apple tree in our front yard

If you'd like to, please go ahead and share photos of your cage/room set-ups too!

VERY nice!!! But I see you have toys with little bells in there and they can be dangerous two ways: one is heavy metal poisoning and two is choking on the little clapper. Also, do they bathe in those small bowls or do they have a bigger one for it?

Thanks! I don't quite like those bells either, and i've removed the bell from the toy in the birdroom, and I'm planning on removing the whole toy with the bell inside the cage since they haven't ever even touched that one :) Thanks for the warning though, and I will make sure to remove the last toy with the bell very soon!

Now and then they will take a bath in the water bowl, sure, but they do have a bigger one for bathing too. I mostly mist them though, they prefer that

Thanks :) . There is a bigger version of it in the photos of your flock-thread.

I was going to get some new little branches for the cage yesterday, but ended up with a huge new "tree" for the birdroom too! Alaska's been hanging out there all day! :)

That tree is amazing! what lucky birds!
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.
