Sleeping in 2 cages???

Postby sindy_tech » Sun Aug 04, 2013 8:08 pm

Hello everyone,

Gumby our brown head parrot has two cages. One in the living room ( this is her main cage and is much bigger then what is required) and one in the office ( minimum requirements) the smaller one we got for when we go away for the weekend and bring her. My question here is... When we are at home does it really matter which one she sleeps in at night? I was thinking i can rotate.. Or would that be too stressful for her? Currently she is comfortable playing in/on both of them which is why i assumed if i rotated where she sleeps at night it would make it less stressful for her when we do go away for a few days. What do you guys think? Also considering her big cage is in the living room and sometimes we stay up late. Those nights we can just put her in the other room so that we don't disturb her beauty sleep. Let me know what you all think :)

I would think that parrots are easy sleeper. When it gets dark outside and their bio-clock kicks in telling to sleep, they just do so wherever they can find a quiet place. Mine fall asleep in my arm around 7:30pm. If she perches ontop of the ceiling fan around 7:30pm, she'll sleep there. I have 2 cages also; one in the upstairs loft and the larger one is in the family room. She normally flies up to the smaller cage in the loft (where it is dark and quiet at 7:30pm) on her own to sleep. I drapped the small cage with towels. I never close the cage door. I leave the towel up after she left the cage in the morning. I put the towel down after she goes into the cage at night. In the morning, she just climb out of the cage and towel easily on her own. Parrot must have a quiet place to sleep for 10 to 12 hrs.
