Just ordered a new cage!!

Postby paper_lantern » Sun Nov 03, 2013 1:56 pm

I just ordered this new cage for Chubby, my GCC. Yes, it's HUGE, but I want him to have as much space as possible. As far as I know, the 5/8 inch bar spacing is fine for a Green Cheek, right? It's not stainless steel like I wanted, but due to a financial issue I can no longer shell out the almost $2,000 for stainless steel. I heard that Kings Cages make really good powder coated cages with no toxic chemicals, so I decided to go with this one.

Now I'm starting to worry because I noticed it's an "economy" cage. Besides bar thickness, is there much of a difference between economy and European style? European is way more expensive, and I doubt Chubby will bite through bars (lol). Does anyone have an economy cage by King's Cages? Also what does it mean when the site says "Bird cage knocks down for compact storage"?!

Does anyone know where I can buy a cage cover big enough for this cage? Chubby likes to be covered at night. :)

Looks good!

You can just buy a black bed sheet for a king sized bed and you should be good!

I didn't think of that! I could even buy two and double up, since our winters get a bit cold here in Maine. I like to give thicker coverage along with the heater in the winter. :) Thanks!

I have looked at both the economy line and superior lines of kings cages( currently have a superior line one). The main noticeable difference is the locks on the cages--the superior line ones have more substantial and "bird proof" locks on the main door as well as feeder doors. My CAG is very good at figuring out locks but she can't with the nicer locks.

thats a very nice cage. Theres no need for a $2000 cage. Hope i can get one that nice soon for peewee. I usually shop at birds.com for most of the stuff i need. Its pretty affordable as long as you use the coupons for it at http://www.growingdeals.com/bird-com-coupons/

I think the difference is also on the thickness of the powder coating. Sheets not always work out as cage covers as light filters through them (I use light quilts).
