I have the large one and it's quite light so I wouldn't worry about its weight but I would get the medium size (I don't like them to feel 'confined' and to have just the one perch even if it's just for a short trip).

Michael wrote:Can you send me pics how you fixed it? The issue I saw was that if you lock the bottom in, then you can't remove to clean it? The size/weight is better I agree. For a Cape Parrot or Grey, I still wouldn't go smaller than medium (or whatever the heck they call it!).

Yes :).
Basically, what I've done is used 4 stainless steel screws with nuts and 8 washers, placed towards the bottom framed as seen the picture.

This allows the bottom tray to move upwards the same height as the side wall of the tray, thus allowing it to easily slide out while making it impossible for it to fall into the cage.

Here's a link to a bigger size of the above picture.

(you could add another 4 screws under it for it to rest/slide on to make it locked vertically but still allowing it to slide out, but I dont see the benefit)

Hey that's a genius fix! With it like that, it looks like a great cage. Now I might have to get one of those for Kili and "fix" it using your system. The only way I thought of fixing it was to permanently stick the bottom in place but didn't like that. But with your slide out fix, this seems like a very secure and useful cage! If I end up doing that, would it be alright for me to post a tutorial online how to do that?

Thanks. Go right ahead and use it/post a turtorial if you want, the more birds who have good secure travel cages, the better :).

It's beyond me why it isnt designed as such from start though, its a real oversight by King's cages, but luckily its easy to solve.

Yes, thanks for sharing, cml!

This is why forums can be such great places...
