Review on NU Perches?

Postby Cockatiel Lover » Wed Apr 16, 2014 5:23 pm

I have two cockatiels, a five month old and an eight month old. :greycockatiel: Right now I am using store-bought natural wood perches for them. I'd like to know your opinions on Michael's NU Perches, as I am planning on buying them. Pros? Cons? Thanks.

NU perches are easier on the birds' feet than dowels, but if your bird likes to strip bark NU perches are not as much fun for them. Also, some kinds of bark are better at de-pointing talons than others. NU perches are useless in this area (but so are a lot of others)

Natural perches need to be checked for wood-type and parasites (freezing or baking works) if you make your own. Making your own is obviously cheaper than buying.

Did I miss anything?

not exactly, but if you make your own it takes baking for 1 hour at 400 degrees F. Can't say about freezing as I don't trust it.
