Suggestions for travel and sleep cage?

Postby KwwB » Wed May 21, 2014 7:41 pm

Hello everyone. For about a week now I've been looking at different travel cages for my amazon Bella :amazon: . I finally settled on the medium size aluminium travel cage from Kings Cages http://www.kingscages.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=ATS1719 but they do not have the color I want, and I do not want to purchase the gold one which is the only one they have left. I don't want to get the gold one because I want it to match Bella's current cage colors as closely as possible as I will be turning this cage into a travel cage and a sleep cage. Her current cage is in a good location, but I feel she still doesn't get enough good sleep, so I'd rather get her used to this cage for sleeping so she can sleep in different room.

What does everyone else use? I'm looking for something that can be a sleep and travel cage all in one. Thanks!

The kings cages are really sturdy, good quality cages although a little on the heavy side. I really wouldn't let colour put you off as I don't really know of a comparable alternative- there are alternatives out there though of course but for good quality travel cages your options are limited.

Can you contact them and ask when they are due to have more of the colour you want for sale? or try googling for another supplier? If you check sites such as ebay you might get lucky and find one on there as well (just be sure to dismantle is and make sure its fully sanitized before use ofc)

It's crazy because everywhere I've looked online; only the gold color is offered. It's almost like they stopped producing them and all that is left is gold. Makes me wonder if they are putting out a new aluminium cage series or something.

As mentioned the main reason I don't want the gold is to ease the transition to sleeping in the travel cage mostly. In the long run it might not matter though. Thanks for your post. I'm considering just getting the gold one anyways from your testimony :)

If you don't mind paying extra in shipping then would it be worth getting one from another country? The cages are pretty heavy though so it might cost a fortune if they take weight into account, the cage comes flat packed so the boxes aren't ginormous in all directions, it just depends on how they work out the fees for shipping really which is something I'm not familiar with.

It won't matter to the bird whether it's gold or silver so, if your choice was made based on the 'transition', I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have the same one (in silver -LOL) and use it as a carrier. My birds don't have sleeping cages, they live cage free in a room and roost wherever they want to but people who use them simply put the sleeping cage next to the day cage so the bird can get used to it and, once they do, they start feeding them dinner in it at sunset and when they see the bird going into it by itself, they start moving it to the other room.
