Truman and Fugi's Cage

Postby Faraaz » Thu May 22, 2014 7:27 pm

Hey Everyone,

Truman and Fugi dont get a long very well but they are still friends and talk to each other a lot. Ever since I started putting Truman in the same cage with Fugi, Truman never wants to out any more. So I got a good idea to put the food bowls on the top of the cage so they get encouraged to come out every time I open the cage. Is this an ok idea? I have seen Peekaboo Parrots do it in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dl5gD8z ... 2C7BA#t=54 and thought it would be a good idea to do it to my birds.

Lord, I would not use a person who clips her birds so severely and keeps them in a pitifully tiny cage with one single dowel perch as an example of anything good! I hope you are not leaving them in the cage without any food, that's downright dangerous as well as cruel. Also, if they don't get along, please don't cage them together, you are just stressing them out and might find one of them hurt or dead one day. Budgies are usually easy going but they can also be VERY nasty...

My budgies cages are fairly sized, a size of Kili's old cage. Plenty of natural perches, night light is on next to their cage, cage door always open, sometimes closed when needed too, I've seen them come out of their cage for the food and milet on top of the cage, but they have a separate bird tree next to them which Truman likes to come out and sit on if fugi is bothering him.

May I suggest that you turn the nite light off? The reason being that it interferes with their sleep patterns, and will therefore likely increase their aggression levels.
