One of the amazons was blind and not allowed out of the cage. The other was very excited or frightened and was a bit grouchy since it was nap time, but none of them even tried to bite. It was a very nice experience and helped my mother get into the spirit of bird ownership!

I was discussing it with my parents and we think we should buy the supplies a while in advance so we're aware of what we can afford bird wise (and assuming about $300 for a vet visit). While this dampens my excitement a bit, I'm also glad that we will be properly prepared to give our bird the best life possible. I've waited about a year already, so I can definitely stick it out for a while more.

Thank you both for your responses! :D

A blind bird living in a petstore and not allowed to come out of a cage? That's a TERRIBLE life for the poor animal!

I agree, and I heard the poor thing sneeze, it's feathers were ruffled the whole time, and it was hunched down at the bottom of the cage... I mentioned it might be sick but they seem to think that blindness is the only thing wrong with the bird. I can't convince them to look into it and I don't know who to call that won't charge way too much. I'm afraid to call a rescue/similar in case I'm wrong

I don't know where a blind bird would be but I would bet that it would still climb up and not be on the bottom of the cage. The rest of what you describe is for sure symptoms of a sick bird.

Yes, sneezing and puffing are symptoms of disease. Blind birds don't climb but they do perch if you put a branch or something low to the ground and put them there to sleep. It's better if they are at the bottom of the cage for eating because they will instinctively forage on the ground and, as long as you put the water container always in the same exact spot and at a height that the bird can find it easily by lowering his head, he will be fine (I had a blind parrot) but the rest of the time they should be perching (parrots feet were not meant to be on a flat surface, it hurts them after a while). Please call a local rescue, explain the situation and ask them to help. They will know what to do.
