Its where I worked, it is fact thank you.

As for the rest comparing kids to birds is completely irrelevant. You see socialisation and training as bad, I get that, I don't see it as bad because I don't see the right way to do it as being throwing a million different experiences at a bird all at once, which yes some people do but not everyone. Start listening to others as individuals not as a generalisation and putting a rational debate forwards rather than being stuck in your way being the only way. I honestly do appreciate that your a lot better read and experienced than most people but if your seriously suggesting that people don't need to make any effort to introduce novel things to a single or one of few/differing species birds I would suggest that that makes no sense. Its up to us to provide what a flock would give, your birds have a lot of other birds to use as rolemodels, you were talking right through to adolescence further up not just "baby" stage.....

Ahh, well, you worked for the industry so yes, that would make a difference in the way you and I regard things.

But I don't think that comparing baby parrots to human babies is irrelevant. I think that, very often, it's the only way that people 'see' things from a parrot's perspective - we are extremely anthropocentric...

I don't see socialization or training as bad and, if you think so, you are not reading my postings correctly. What I am against is 'early socialization' (exposing the bird regularly to strange people and places at an age when it would not happen in nature - before they are ready to leave their parents) until it's proven by studies or by long term verifiable, reputable and numerous anecdotal references to be beneficial. And I am not against training, either, I teach my parrots things all the time even though I don't hold training sessions or reward them with anything but my approval (and they learn!). I don't agree with formal training sessions for babies or juveniles, making them 'work' for food by withholding it so they would perform better, or with the training results been the reason and goal of keeping a parrot.

No haven't sold any, they all belonged to the farm as far as I know they are all still there. I don't involve myself with the selling of animals. Well not strictly true, I did the care taking of lizards, snakes and the likes for a few months at a place that did sell them to gain experience as it was the only place I could get that covered that sort of thing.

If you are against early socialisation then we are almost on the same page I guess, I think putting it off as long as adulthood isn't the best bet though, I wouldn't like to see an 8 week old bird being subjected to that though, a bit of generalisation but yes we do too much too soon on the whole.

There you go, we were not so far off after all! My grandmother always used to say: "Hablando, la gente se entiende" (Talking, people understand one another"). It's when people get offended and are not willing to debate that they don't get anywhere.
