I use rope to attach one branch to another, a cage or a platform. They chew it but I don't mind because it's one more 'chewie' for them (they love to chew rope with knots in it) and I just throw the whole thing away when it gets raggedy and get new ones.

Roonil that looks great!! What did you do for the base? Just a wooden box -type thing?

My husband cut some branches for me on the weekend but he's going to have to go to the other property to see if there's some better bigger ones. We only have one birch tree here. I'm going to look up which other types are ok though - we have lots of trees but birch is the only hardwood tree we have. The ones we got are great for in his cage, but not for a stand. So we'll see what we can find :)

Keep posting pics if you change/do more, I'd love to see! Looks great! :)

Julian's Tree.jpg

The base is cheep melamine sheet we already had - though you could use anything, and its on wheels. I think i'll be adding more to it tomorrow - just small thin pieces to help him climb around :) if you have any more questions, just ask, i can get close up of bits if you want to see how I did something :)

Good Luck with your project :) hope you find some good trees :)

Be careful with that toy, Roonil, it has beads small enough for him to get into his beak.

Will do, Pajarita :) usually the toys he has with small beads are played with under supervision, and if broken are fixed before he can play with them again xx

The trees in my new yard are oak but they are very old and have moss hanging in them. I will have to wait until I go back to NC and cut some branches to make new stands for my kids.

You can bake the wood for 30 minutes at 350 degrees F. to kill bugs.
