Looking for a specific cage

Postby Navre » Thu Jul 30, 2015 1:26 pm

I'm looking for a specific cage that I have seen. The cage I saw had no identifying brand marks on it, but looking online it seems most like a Kings Cage ELT_2724 or SLT 2724 http://www.kingscages.com/ProductDetail ... SLT%202724, bit this one goes almost all the way down to the floor. The inside height dimension is 56". It doesn't take up much floor space, but because it has so much interior height it does seem big enough for a grey. There is a grey in it now, and it seems plenty big enough for her.

When I bought my GCC I put her in a cage that is about 32X32. I figured bigger was better. I never considered the possibility that I would want to put another cage in the same room. The 27x24 has the best chance of fitting where I need it to fit.

I could try to purchase the one at the rescue, but it is pretty old and starting to rust on the legs and around the casters. I figure it is about time to retire it.

I'd love to get a custom built stainless steel one, but I'd love to add a bird room on to the house, too. Neither one is likely with two kids in college.

Well, I'll be honest with you, I don't like skinny, tall cages for parrots. I like them roomy UNLESS they are only used for sleeping. I have two old amazon hens in a similar one but their cage is open all the time and they only go into it for sleeping (I just brought them out of the birdroom and put them in the dining room because they had been barbering their feathers -Pedro -another amazon- was bullying them)

If you gave me the dimensions, I'd have told you that the cage is too small for a grey, but having seen her in it, I think it is okay.
As in most things, bigger is better. (Except for my expanding gut...that would be better if it were smaller)

 Yes, I am with you on that, I could also use a bit of a smaller 'gut' myself - hard getting old, ain't it?

Old age ain't for sissies. Moving from NC VA to FL VA is an adventure. They are sending me to 3 specialists a week and running tests. The worst part is that they are finding things.
