Perch Question

Postby Bunchy » Fri Nov 06, 2015 6:21 pm

I was wondering if I could go out and find some correct sized branches from our property? We have a lot of oak trees and some driftwood from near the ocean. Is this type of wood safe for our CAG? :gray:

I would not use these woods if for no other reason than the amount of salt that has soaked into the driftwood, but also due to not being able to identify the type of wood.

How about just regular white or red oak from the trees? Do you know of a reliable web site that explains the right type of wood for parrots and if there sre things I need to do to make it safe? Thanks for the info!! :gray:

Here is a listing: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=12521
The list begins on the second page of this topic, it includes foods that are safe and toxic, plants that are safe and toxic as well as trees and woods and household items. As far as I am aware of if a wood is listed as toxic there is nothing that you can do to change this as that would require changing the nature of the tree that the wood came from and we don't have any way of doing that.
