Pepper getting a hideout

I just ordered him a Happy Hut I thought he might like it and now he will have a warm cozy retreat how many of you have a snuggle hut or a happy hut? just curious

I don't give happy huts to my bird; I'm concerned about safety (I've heard many stories of loose threads wrapping around a neck or foot/toe, and about territoriality (becoming overly possessive of the hut).

I too steer clear of happy huts, but if you or someone you know can knit/crochet you can make something for him. I've heard of other people crocheting or knitting a small to medium sized square that hangs from the top of the cage. I've seen the lucky bird snuggle into it and climb on it.

I had the same thought. Scooter loves his tent and sleeps in it all the time, no signs of any unusual territoriality -- GCCs normally sleep in an enclosed space like that, for other species it is associated with breeding, so I think you have know your species.

That is what I thought about, but wanted to give another option. Then again it was used for a vos ekkie who didn't play much with it, just snuggled up to it. I didn't think about how it would work for a smaller, more active bird. I stand corrected!

happy huts a safety concern.... the ones i use have no threads so how could he possibly get a thread caught if there are no threads.....

perfectly safe if u ask me birds are more likely be me harmed with toys if you ask me

My Caique uses a happy hut but I've yet to meet a Senegal or read about one who likes a happy hut.

There are potential dangers everywhere... I don't really feel that the happy hut is harmful. I do however agree with Natacha about them raising hormones in birds. They become protective of them and they can encourage breeding behavior.

My Senegal likes to burrow into my duvet or under my neck and go to sleep when I'm watching TV in bed. I have been thinking of getting him something to sleep in for his cage like a happy hut but doesn't sound like they are recommended?
