600 parrots in Ohio home

SIX HUNDRED!!!! The owner used to be a champion exhibitor at bird shows [translation: a breeder]. We need laws, guys! Animals are suffering because of our lack of action.

And still more... I guess the sheer number of birds they removed from the house is what makes this news stay current. But I also have a comment to make and it's about the Humane Society taking over the birds. I do wish they would call on one or more bird rescues to do this because the Humanes, as well as the SPCAs, are dog and cat rescues and, in my personal experience, never have anybody with the kind of knowledge that is needed to care for birds that have been neglected.

I know the MSPCA here in MA doesn't really have the capacity or the capability to care for that many birds. And they have very little in the way of screening of potential adopters. Most likely, the birds who survive will end up with breeders. When you're overwhelmed with numbers, it's really hard not to relent when someone comes in and offers to take 50 birds off your hands and once.

Yes, that was also the case with the SPCA in Pa and here in NJ... they simply do not have anybody who knows anything about birds.
