Over crowding the bird's cage???

Hi I was wandering if there is like a trick or something to kind of make sure that your bird cage isn't crowded? I am wandering this cause whenever I clean out my keets cage i feel like I have to much stuff in the cage cause when i go to put things in after cleaning there is no place for something to go where it won't get pooped on!!!???? Well I guess what i'm asking is about how many toys should be in the cage what all doesn't have to be there for the bird to survive???:):):):):)
