Farmers usually leave a large tract of 'empty' soil around their planted fields to discourage animals coming onto the fields to eat their plantings BUT a study with different experimental techniques revealed that allowing a natural habitat around the farms actually benefits the farmers, the birds AND the consumers! We really, really need to go back more to nature's ways instead of insisting we know better...
