Cool! Do your birds visit each other's cages when they're out?

No, they don't because (except my budgie) there wings are clipped. So they don't fly. My budgie cán fly but he doesn't come out of his cage anymore. He is 7 years old and troubled with his health lately. He was treated by my bird vet for an infection, after that a tumor at his wing was removed and he also lost his girlfriend Bonnie (last year).. since that time he just don't like to come out anymore. I sometime take him out by myself but he just doesn't love it..

Thanks. Did you start with the budgies?

Yes! well... not with these budgies, but when I was 12 years old (and now I am 47) I started with a blue budgie, Rakker. after him I had two more blue ones and in the meantime I got my first lovebird. of course this lovie doesn't live anymore.. got another lovebird, Pucky and he got a friend Sweetie. And I adopted a couple lovebirds which were mom and dad from Pucky. From these 4 lovies I still have pucky's daddy Piwi. And one baby from Pucky and sweetie, sammy (a hybrid). Some years ago I also got two fischers lovebirds, I still have (Jamie and Bobbie). So.. four lovies now. And 11 years ago I started with a bigger bird, a sennie (Mickey). Than years later my first grey parrot, who died through pbfd and polyoma (see: http://www.ellen-parrots.com/frames-pbfd.html). 9 Months later I got Tommy II, who now is 8 years old. And since August 2009 I have a quaker parrot. Such a wonderful bird too! Image

I was wondering whether the Tommy on your intro-pic was the sick Tommy. I was afraid to ask, so I didnt. But, dont you feel a bit weird, calling a second bird after the first one?

You started with bird very early! I was about 24 when I got my first cockatiel...I'm 48 now, so it has been a long time with birds as well.

I also have a small flock of chickens. And we're getting 2 ornamental (small-breed) turkeys this year...looking forward to that!

On this picture it's of course my second grey. Maybe some people find it weird to give the second the same name, but for me it feels different. I absolutely want the name Tommy for my grey parrot and well.. the first one I only had for 7 weeks.. Also it's not all in the name. This one is a different bird than the first one, but I will never forget him and I just really love the name Tommy.
