square bars?

Postby Nathaniel » Mon Aug 09, 2010 7:13 pm

Ok, After moving(new record, one weekend  ) I found a stainless steel bird cage at a local petstore today that was 30x24x30h and only $100. The only thing is that it has square bars, is this a "bird" safe option?

What is the spacing? Why type of bird are you considering putting in the cage? It really depends on the type of bird.

5/8 bar spacing and I just put a depositon a red-bellied :D . If this was not a good choice, then I was going to get a blue or green http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... 16474&s=hl . Its just that this one is larger, stainless steel, is cheaper, comes with 3 ss bowls, a lixit bottle and has three feeder doors and a 12 inch dometop. It is not a bad cage but the store is going belly up :( and every thing is 75% off. :D

Sounds good...and I'd jump at a 75% off sale...

Can you post a pic (from the internet) of the first one?

BTW...congrats on choosing a Red Belly. Not nearly as good a choice as a Pionus would have been, but not too shabby... ;)

I agree, a picture would be nice.
I would also double check that it is truly stainless steel, because adding 75% to that $100..the price still seems to good to be true to be Stainless..

They don't have a website and I have yet to buy a camera :? . I will try to get pictures from the breeder but he is fairly stuborn. I barely convinced him to not clip the birds wings, but he is a good one. The RB will be weaned on roudybush and grow up around a flight harness :D , It has been DNAed as a male (the only male of the babies) and just hatched a few week ago. I will go and buy my supplies tomorrow mourning and see if I can find a camera I like  . In my new house I have a room with a partially windowed ceiling that I am devoting to him. I will start a new topic later after I get my supplies all setup. But I am excited to get everything kicked off.

I all ready have, it was made locally and has been used twice, but is still in great condition. I got it test by a method similar(if not) like this, http://www.labtesting.com/services-chem ... alysis.php .

Ah so you wanted a male :)
May I ask why? (really just curious) - Is it the bright orange belly? ;)

How many babies were there in the clutch?
