Best craigslist snag EVAH!

Postby Azure Hanyo » Fri Aug 27, 2010 1:30 pm

I just got a giant flight cage for Archimedes for $40!!!! I have no idea of the dimensions, but it is probably four times the size of his original cage. Brand new, with stand!!! Sometimes I love craigslist...but seeing that someone was wanting to trade their cockatoo for a TV kind of pissed me off...

:?

...We need a pissed-off emoticon...

Found my tape! (I was actually trying to find it earlier, but your reply made me determined...it was in the back of the closet underneath a pile of dust bunny corpses. Make you happy?)

The cage is 35" tall x 30" wide x 18" deep. WOO!

Oh! Jealous! That sounds like the exact size I am looking for!

I've been looking a couple months and I can't find one in my area(or within 200 miles). I have found this cage on other craigslists though, throughout neighboring states. I wish I didn't live in the middle of nowhere sometimes!

Maybe I will get lucky like you did

If not I'll just buy it new in another couple of months when my accessories fund is replenished

His old cage (his first cage actually got broken, so don't think he was in this for very long!!! It took me two months to save up because I was going to get a new one, but found the one on craigslist instead) 26" tall x 18" wide 13" deep. Yeeeah...really small. He hated it.

Nice. Sometimes Craigslist rocks!

I currently am trying to sell two cages though and nobody wants to buy them. :(

Good luck on your search! I was absolutely certain I would have to shell out $200 + for a new cage, but didn't want to take from my emergency vet/doctor/car fund, so I just saved up and used my parakeet's old cage for him temporarily and made sure he had plenty of out of cage time in the meanwhile. I checked craigslist every week, and finally saw this cage posted there last night. I e-mailed them immediately. It was too good of a deal to pass up! Of course, I need to refurbish it and add better perches and dishes, but for that price...can't beat it.

I suggest checking craigslist if you can stomach the...um...*insert swear here*-holes who try to get rid of their pets for TVs... I also saw two tiels crammed into a dinky cage someone was trying to sell and I wanted them...I have room for them now, but don't think I am going to take more birds on right yet... Sigh.

If you live in Ohio we might be able to work something out... I am also on the hunt for a bigger cage for Galileo. :D
