Wood perches get a good soaking in the sink with hot water and dishwashing soap though I might try white vinegar again... I just don't like the way it smells. I need a nice smelling alternative.



try vinegar and lemon, but i think this is one of those things where you can only make one batch at a time. smells much better than just straight vinegar.

I know these aren't perches but ladders are close... What do you guys do with colored ladders? I started washing mine and to my despair the colors started to run. Is this just a normal part of it?

if it was dyed with vegetable dyes then yes it will run, just the reality of it. Try re dying if you feel up to the challenge. Look up some vegetable dye recipes, it should be fairly easy to do.
