Would you house your bird in this cage?

Yes. Avian Adventures are decent cages and that should be enough room for an Eclectus.

It is actually a bit small. Ekkies need ideally at least 3 feet wide by 2 feet deep by 5 feet high. But if your bird is outside of its cage a lot, including during the day, it should be ok. Ekkies have a large wingspan. What subspecie is your bird, that makes a difference also.

The cage is the home to a male Soloman Island Eclectus. It is not my bird, I am talking with a woman that I might buy the bird and cage from. I am VERY interested in the bird but not crazy about the cage. I am awaiting photos of him and the cage, but her camera needs batteries so I'll have to just chew my fingernails off...

If the cage is essentially "free" and he's used to it, I don't know that I'd turn it down. I have an AA powder-coated cage for Scooter and it is quite nice, well designed and well made. And this is stainless, which is a very nice thing.

When we bought Scotty, they insisted we also buy a suitable cage. Some sellers are paranoid that you'll choose a too-small or otherwise unsuitable cage. Maybe he just wants rid of the whole lot... or maybe he wants the bird to be comfortable in a semi-familiar environment. I'd definitely take the toys!

I'm going to go bigger if I ever get that Eclectus of mine, but I agree, if it already is the parrot's home, then take it. You'll have plenty of time to get a bigger one later on, and it will help the bird get acclimated faster.

Also, SI is the smallest subspecie, so it shouldn't be too bad.
