I have guillotine doors on my parrotlet's cage, but I have always used clips to keep them shut. Thankfully he has never shown any interest in escaping.

But thank you for the warning. I have heard stories about the guillotine doors as well. If they are open, be sure to clip them open. Too many birds owners have lost their bird because the door slammed shut on the bird, killing it

I watched a Black Headed Parrot (Caique) open a guillotine food door like that and the door stayed up itself from friction. I closed it and the bird opened it again and started climbing out. I pushed it back in but I know that bird will eventually get out so I notified the employees. Those doors are definitely an accident waiting to happen. At the very least I recommend some clips on them to prevent them from being opened.

I have four of these doors that are supposed to be used for food containers on Sheldon's cage. When I took his cage outside for the day, I was shocked when he grabbed the bottom of the door and started sliding it up and down while he was bobbing up and down. I have now locked all four. ;)

I have similiar doors... I think I've been taking my birds lack of a sense of adventure for granted... I think I might get some clips to secure the cage doors when I'm not home. I did begin to have this problem with my old budgies. The older one would just pluck the door a bit and it'd fall open and they'd just go crazy in the place.
