HQ Flight Cage

Postby Chris&Akilah » Sun Feb 06, 2011 4:08 pm

This is the type of cage I have. http://www.birdscomfort.com/flight_bird_cage.html

I'm just curious. Would one of these be good for a black-winged jardine? I like the price of these, and they are easy to assemble/disassemble, and clean.

Who has this cage and what do you keep in it??

I don't have the same model or brand. But I do have two similar cages. I keep one cockatiel in one, and two budgies in the other. There is plenty of space.

So I was looking around online, and I couldn't find very much info on cage dimension minimums. But one site said the Jardines are the second largest birds in the Poi family (they come after the Cape).

If you like the HQ brand, this Canadian store offers free shipping on all their HQ cages: http://www.parrotdiseperch.com/parrot/s ... =0&search=

I'm pretty sure I heard you say you were Canadian.

I wouldn't do it for a Jardines.

For one, the bars might be a bit flimsy for the beak of a Jardines. I would definitively go with something with a wider wire gage.
And, you might want a cage which will allow you to remove the food/water bowls from the outside (with doors which swings out).

i have a very similar cage for my rainbow lorikeet but with one door. im currently paying off this type of cage

http://www.birdscomfort.com/playtopsmal ... cages.html

for him i wanted a higher quailty cage with a play top and swing out doors, and the price difference between the are arent that much more. i dont know how big jardines are but this is the type of cage i would go for.

I definitely do NOT think that cage would work for a BW Jardine's-- they are one of the bigger types of Jardine's and have quite a powerful beak. Those are called "flight" cages because they work for the little guys well and have very thin bars.

Ok, thanks! I figured the bars might be too thin.
