Rambo (DYH Amazon) is in my mother's bedroom because he was spending so much time with her anyway. He keeps his food, toys, stuff and bed in the cage.
My six cockatiels are all in a big parrot cage still in the dinning room because the sun room is too cold right now.
Myrtle (BF Amazon I just adopted) has a cage on the dinning room table. It is too small for her to actually live in. Her food, toys and stuff are inside but she sleeps on the top. I put perches on the outside and put a 3 sided cardboard box on top at night to cut down any draft.
My dinning room is between the kitchen, sunroom and laundry room.
Since my mother and aunt are both invalids I just use that room or work space (my computer is there too) so I am there a lot.
By the way. I have had Myrtle for couple of days now. She now steps up, rides on my shoulder, gives me kisses and preens the fuzz on my cheeks. Not bad for a bird that could not be touched.

NZ Jesse, are both your birds comfortable with being right at the window? I've heard that while an unobstructed view is good, being right up against a window can make a bird feel exposed and insecure. Scooter certainly seemed calmer being a bit away from the window -- but he'd come from a store where he probably had not seen a window in ages.

i close the blinds one 1 side by jango and hes seems perfectly happy, qwil on the other hand is happy to be in front of the window the whole time but he has a blanket over about a quarter of his cage so he still has privacy if he wants it

Mt GCC is in his cage in my room. Very difficult to keep my room clean now...and no chance for me to ever sleep in (6 am? WAKE UP MUM! HELLO?! WHERE'S BREAKFAST?!!! ARE YOU SLEEPING?????!!!!)

...but hes my bird. So he has to be in my small part of the house until I move out.

Anyway, my room is pretty small so I keep his cage-cover (an old bed sheet) clipped to the back to protect the wall from food and poop. He is also near a window. I like that he can see the outdoors, and get some sunshine. But it does have its downsides. At my old place he would sit there on his little balcony and watch the traffic go by. But if anything 'scary' happened, he would panic and fly around the apartment.

Here, we tend to have a lot of avian visitors in our backyard. Hawks. And herons. The last time a heron flew by his window, he went bananas. And hawks? My mum found him downstairs, in the bathroom. Hiding.
Wild animals are called 'wild' for a reason. Keep them that way. Adopt your pets, or buy them from a certified breeder.

My Hamlet's cage is right next to my bed, I wasn't sure that was the best place for him till I got him home and really assest the house and I noticed allot of you keep them in you'r rooms as well and i'm not the only one! :) I also have two cats (One declawd the other soon to be as well) a dog (Shih Tzu, she's small and shows no interest in him) and two boy's (4 and 6) But luckily they are too busy to be to interested either. The cage I bought for him has a childproof lock on the door and requires a key for the food trays and so far from what i've seen my kids like I said are to busy to try and open the doors or go see him without me inviting them to ayways so I think the bedroom is the best place since it's almost as big as the living room and I can keep the cats and dog and kids out. I play music for him when I'm not in the room to give him something to listen to and every chance I get I go in my room, lock the door and take him out and play with him. My bedroom has it's own bathroom and he seems to like bathing in the sink under close supervision of course but at leaste for now he has everything he needs in that room. :)

I don't think any of our birds could stand being in a bedroom, they enjoy being out with us where all the activity is.
The Tiels, Red Wing and Princess Parrot are in a big cage in the kitchen/living room and really enjoy being in with everyone. Mali in particular would not cope without constant interaction, anytime you walk past her she just about begs for a scratch!
The conures are at my OH's house, and in a cage also in the kitchen/living room. They also really enjoy being in on the action, but they're in a corner of the room, next to the door, which makes it better for going to sleep since they're on the other side of the room.
