Do your birds hang out in eachothers' cages?

Postby kaylayuh » Sun Apr 03, 2011 5:33 pm

Pigpen has taken to hanging out in Cheney Bird's cage and playing in his hammock and with his toys. She chews on his cuttle bone, will play with his play stand, and swing on his swing. Cheney Bird doesn't seem to mind and will just sit there and look at her. Sometimes he leaves the cage to play on top of it or with the playgym.

Do your birds hang out in the other's cage? If so, has it been a problem?

My birds have the same type of cage. They are right next to each other, and they are connected by a bird net. Over both cages I have rope swings and a rope ladder. Both of their cages are covered in foot toys.

They freely go from one cage to another.

When Einstein first arrived, Bonnie was a bit cage aggressive, but now they all co-exist very harmoniously.

The budgies are always getting into Einstein's cage and eating his food and Bonnie likes to bathe in his water.

There's been times when I'm needed downstairs, and I'll just put them in the same cage for convenience. They never really have a problem with it.

Some nights, if it gets pretty late, and I haven't put them back in their cage, they will all go into the same cage and go to sleep.

Well, mine live together in a cage pretty harmoniously. There are the occasional squabbles over food and perches, but nothing big.

Our birds share a cage, so yeah, they hang out in each others cage.
I have our GCC's at my house at the moment, they usually live at my OH's house, so it'll be a job of keeping them apart tomorrow.

my conures always play on/in each others cages. the only thing i dont really like is that my nanday will always go to the gold capped's cage and poop over hers instead of his lol. other than that, they play great with each others toys, etc.

No. I normally close doors when they are out so that no one decides to go in a cage and bite someone else's toes.

And...well I have some birds who are more piggy than others and would eat the others' food.

Jasper is forever invading Rosie's cage just to be with her, and Rosie is forever on top of his checking out the playground. Today however, Jasper's cage seems to be the unanimous decision as they were both pecking around the playground and are now just chilling quietly :P

At first I didn't really want Jasper going into Rosie's cage cause I thought she wouldn't like him invading, but he always puts up such a fuss and she really doesn't seem to mind so I am starting to cave a bit. I'll let him go on in and visit but I still limit the amount of time he spends in there, just so she can actually have some time to herself. You can see sometimes she tries to get away from him but he trails right behind like a little puppy lol.

Man, he has so much energy! :o

That's a budgie for you! I tend to leave my two little guys free fly when I'm here, and they're just zooming all over the place. In and out of their cage, in and out of the GCC's cage, on and off the windows. They're just EVERYWHERE.

Such a joy to watch, though!
