Moved Cages.

Postby kaylayuh » Tue Apr 05, 2011 12:56 pm

So I moved the birds cages near eachother a couple of days ago. I can't imagine ever separating them again. The clean up is so much easier when the mess is concentrated to one area.

Before the cages were across the room from eachother. Cheney Bird would have seeds, water, Cheerios, all kinds of stuff all around his. Pigpen would kick food out of hers. It's much easier to vacuum up when the cages are this close together!

I felt you pain! I had the SAME exact situation. As soon as I moved the cages together, it was 100% easier to clean - plus the birds are happier near each other.

It looks great- way to go :)

I don't know if Cheney Bird is happier. Pigpen seems to enjoy kicking him out of his hammock so she can sleep!

sounds like pigpen is a little bully lol! XD i think its a good idea but if Cheney bird is unhappy then maybe move them a little farther apart so pigpen cant steel his hammock? does cheney bird like his hammock because i got a little tent thing thats soft inside and he hates it lol D:
A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song. <3

Aren't little bully budgies really cute?
Looks great, though do you like the play area hidden behind the cages?

He actually doesn't seem to mind unless he's sleeping in it. When she kicks him out of it, he goes to sleep in hers. I figure it all works out. Cheney Bird steals their food. Pigpen steals their hammock. No Name doesn't care what either of them does as long as he can play with his toys and isn't bothered.

It's actually not too hidden. I can access it from in front of the cages. There are wooden perches on the outside of their cages that they can use to access it. They also have rope perches around it.

They actually won't play with it if I move it anywhere else in the room for some reason. I've tried it on the other side of both cages, and they ignored it. I tried it across the room and they wouldn't even touch it. I don't know what it is about that corner, but they like feeling "hidden" I think. Maybe they think they're doing something they shouldn't and I can't see it?

I lose the budgies in theirs all the time! I had to rearrange everything in them earlier because I could never find them. Now the perches are far enough away from the toys that I can find them pretty quickly. It's saved a lot of freaking out thinking I lost a bird.

The cages were so cheap, too. Brand new on E-Bay for $99 each, and free shipping. The exact same cages on bird supply websites were going for $200.

Mine were 150$ each, and I got discounted shipping because I bought two of them.
