Parrot-proof window screen?

With spring here I was wondering if there is any way I could make it safe to have my window open for Akilah. Are there any insect-screens for windows that a parrot couldn't chew through and non-toxic? There's plenty of mosquitos so fine mesh is needed.

You can get bronze mesh and also stainless steel, but what a determed bird could chew though is any bodies guess.

Here in Australia they market a "pet proof" mesh window screening material...made of some sort of wire, rather than the cheaper nylon stuff. I used it last summer to re do my screen doors and then used some left over bits on one of my breeding cages to temporarily block off access to a nesting box...it took less than 2 days for a determined budgie hen to chew through it to regain access to the nest box so "pet-proof" certainly doesnt mean PARROT proof!!

Well in my part of Aus, we have to have Aluminium window screens because we're in a bushfire prone area, but I'm pretty sure Aluminium is bird safe anyway isn't it? They make some cages out of it.
Also, we find it safer having wire mesh on some windows, we have an awful lot of nearly ceiling height windows and having some covered in mesh means there's more of a chance of birds hitting that instead of the glass, gives a bit of cushioning and they grab hold of it rather than hitting the ground. Altho our serial window-hitter isn't here anymore.

We have similar sounding wire-mesh screens over most of our openable windows. They are removable, and attach to the window frames using velcro. We bought them from a company online called 'Cat-air screens', but I don't know if they exist anymore.

They were to allow us to open windows whilst also keeping our two siamese cats inside (as you can see from the picture). They also keep insects *out*.



We've had them now for almost 5 years, and they're still going strong - *and* have resisted multiple escape attempts... They work fine in keeping Isis in too - but I'd still not leave her unsupervised around them, just in case.
