Let's Talk Poop.

*May sound gross but w/e* Is Cockatiel 'poop wet or is it dry chunks to where I don't have to really worry about me carpet alot. But my carpet is brown 'w black in it so it's not like it would leave a stain. just I wunu make sure so I can bring it to other places in my house...

I use pam. i take them out then spray pam down and use a paper towel and it comes right off. then i just use a wet paper towel and wipe down the bottom to get off the excess pam. this lady from the pet store told me about it. she has an aviary and has been using pam for 20 years now.

I'm sure we all know by now that birds have a tendency to poop everywhere. Short of covering every surface with newspaper or plastic, it's pretty much a given that eventually we'll get poop on our carpet, tile, wood, or what-have-you. So, what is your tried and true method for removing it?

A little information:

I rent an apartment with carpeting in the living area where the birds are.
I use Poop Off for cage cleaning and have tried it on the carpet. It changed the color of the piece of carpeting I tried.
I'm considering using Resolve carpet cleaner, but I haven't been able to find if this is safe.

Right now, the birds are pretty good about going to their cage to poop. Unfortunately, Cheney Bird has a new habit of sitting on the cage door and thus pooping on my floor. I've been just wiping it up with paper towels and blotting it with water. Depending on what he eats, the color changes to an obnoxiously bright green, or if eating pellets, whatever pellet color he's chosen for that day. This makes it infinitely harder to remove it.

Rambo and Myrtle like to sit on their cage doors. They even carry food to them to eat. I clip a cardboard box to the cage right under the door wide enough to catch whatever drops. I line it with news paper and just change the paper. We had all the carpets removed and put in laminent. I still have to follow the pedestrian through the house with a paper towel.

I am just glad they are not Macaws.

I use those clear plastic carpet runners under the cage. Cheap, easy to clean and protect carpet.
