What's Your Cage Setup??

Postby CheekyandMalolo » Sat Apr 30, 2011 5:12 am

I just finished cleaning our cage, so I though I'd take some photos while it's nice. I'd love to see some pics of your cages.
Here is our cage at my parents' house for our Australian parrots:

This cage is fairly minimal when it comes to toys, they prefer it that way. Our birds are much more interested in having plenty of native branches and flowers to forage in and eat. They do still have some swings and bells though, the Tiels love bells :)

And the Conures' cage at my OH's house:

(The cardboard is to stop the pellets being relocated onto the floor)

As you can see, the Conures' cage is much more full and bright. They have different shaped rings which they use as ladders, a swing (Rory's favourite), a Pyramid swing (Tika's favourite), various bells and chewing toys, a home-made boing made out of one of those bendy rope perches, ladders, weird orange saucer thingo, plastic balls with bells in them, and their new favourite: their sleeping tent, which also gets used as a tunnel a lot of the time. Actually I caught Rory picking up balls and taking them up to his tent, purely to push them thru the 'tunnel' and drop them out the other side!

So, anyone wanna play Where's Wally and find all 6 birds in the photos? :P

That first photo is being a bugger and refusing to change size, so it'll just have to stay that way.

Cheney Bird's cage is the black cage. He has fewer toys because both he and the toys are larger and I wanted him to have room to move around and flap his wings. The budgies' cage is white. They are packed full of toys and both they and Cheney Bird play with them all. The bottoms of both cages are nearly empty. They have water dishes and a perch. The budgies also have their bathtub full of foot toys which no one plays with.

I also cleaned and rearranged the cages yesterday!

here's some old pics of rainbow's cage, kinda hard to see what's in there. I change her setup too often and I can't find my camera at the moment though =P
my dream is to have an entire room for birds where I don't need a cage and can totally customize with cool swings and perches or to have an indoor walk in aviary :) one of these days...

Hmm, I guess this isn't at much Cage Setup as Birdroom Setup, but it's the most recent thing I have with how my cages are setup.

I only have two budgies and a cockatiel, and your bird room is still quieter than mine!

I'm so jealous of your outside play areas. I look at mine and it looks so pathetic!

I'm sure it's not :)

That room and the play areas are a work in progress over many years! I've been scouring for deals left and right for most of what is in that room :)

OK everyone, go back and watch Natacha's video and notice what's on the screen when she says, "...and a few things on the ceiling..."! (A few things?)

That's the most awesome bird room! I'd LOVE to have one like that!

I am CONSTANTLY changing my bird room around; currently, I'm thinking about making a big bird room (Cupcake g2 and Monty the ekkie) and a little bird room (3 greenies, Skittles and Twink). Here is our bird room sans 1 green cheek who has not moved in there yet.

Monty's old cage (on loan):

Monty's new cage - it is not as tall and I am glad since we pad the bottom. We keep it sparsely decorated because he is kind of clumsy and has no feathers; the few he has we try to protect. I don't have a picture of it fully set up but here it is side by side with the old cage.
