Postby parrotlover » Fri Jul 08, 2011 3:39 pm

OK well I'll be gone atleast 7 hours a day. So I want to know what things I can put in the cage so that he/she doesn't get bored. I was thinking liek a foraging box. :swaying:

Well u cud get: java perch, foraging toy, wood toys, swings, natural perch and ferris wheel. Don't get a toy or anything with a mirror. The bird will bond eith it's reflection and not with you.

No, but poke some holes in the bottle and stick some treats between the holes so he knows there is a treat in the bottle

1) Several types of perches. Most cages come with the standard wooden dowels. Take them out. I cut mine up and used them as chew toys for my guys. There are many different types of perches. Some of the main ones you'll find are: rope, java, grapevine, pedi-perches, and manzanita. The more variety, the better it is for your birds feet.

2) Shred-able toys. Things that are meant to be destroyed.

3) Toys with moving parts.

4) Foraging toys

5) Water and Food Bowls

6) A swing. My budgies live for their swings. They will only sleep on them.

you have to teach your bird how to forage it is something they learn from there parents its not an instinct, make it very easy with lots of treats at the beginning and slowly work your way to harder foraging object for less food

it helps if first u soften the wood by soaking it in water and then drying it so ur tiel cann chew on it easily. ur tiel will love chewin on any wood. my cockatiel chews on his wooden ladder and has chewd one whole bar off. they chew it up and spit it out lol.
