I've had my senegal parrots' cage for about a year, but i will remove it soon.
It would last many years to come i'm sure, but i think it's a bit too small considering they spend up to 5-8h a day in it and are very active. I'm in the process of constructing a new bird room which will give them a bit more space to move around in.

So yeah, the main reason i get rid of cages isn't usually that they're falling apart, it's mostly because i'm building something new.

This is a picture from when i just got their current cage, ie it has neither branches, enrichment nor birds in it. :) At the time i had a divider in it which isn't there anymore. In totalt it's about 2*2*1m.
Great cage though, i'll probably keep it just in case.

I have a cage that i purchased about 8 years ago, and im using it for my bext small bird. It's been sitting in the shed and it starting to wear a bit where the bars meet but it's still sturdy and i recon i can get atleast another year or two out of it before buying a new one :)
RIP Bo. your epicness lives on in all budgies :D

This cage looks awesome. However, I'd prefer something off the ground for cleaning as well as for the prospect of mice. Living out in the countryside makes mice a huge deal.

Personally i can't stand cages that are off the ground, but that's mostly because i'm used to large cages that you need to stand inside of in order to clean. :)
It's really easy, just gotta sweep up the substrate, sometimes take a go at the floor with the steamcleaner and then we're all done. I am however in the process of rebuilding it, and i'm planning on elevating the front sections so that i can fit some planks under them. The bottom itself won't ve elevated, but the planks will prevent at least some of the substrate etc from "escaping". :)
Should work for keeping mice out aswell.

Though, knowing mice pretty well, i think they'd have a just as easy time getting into a an elevated cage. :-)
